Truancy Prevention Project
The County-wide K-12 Attendance Policy
commits
the schools to timely parent
notification when students are not in
school. In addition, letters are sent to parents of
students with
excessive absences documenting absences and providing information on
the
importance of school attendance. If students have excessive
absences, parents
may be asked to meet with the principal to discuss
mutual concerns regarding the student.
Otter Tail County Connects for Youth Program
brings
families, schools, the county and
others together to inform families about the
consequences of truancy and to increase
communication between families
and their schools. Students, parents and others are asked
to attend when
students have
excessive unexcused absences. These meetings are scheduled
by your
school principal and are held at the Otter Tail County Court House.
