The decision
to create a Chemical Health Work Group was made in response to the
January 2006 review of the results of the United Way Community Needs
Assessment,
in which the Collaborative participated. The Chemical Health Work
Group was funded
as a systems work group, rather than a project work group, and was created
to address
the chemical health and aftercare needs of chemically dependent youth and
their families.
In addition, the work group was asked to identify the strengths as well as
needs and gaps
in local services, and report back to the Collaborative on issues that
could be addressed
in a collaborative fashion. The group also spent time sharing information
about each
other’s programs which is encouraging growth and consistency among the
local agencies
that are involved with chemical health initiatives.
The core
mission of
this group is to enhance service delivery and interagency collaboration
in order to promote healthy drug free environments throughout Otter Tail
County.
